Remember having to learn your ABCs? How tough it was to learn all 26 letters? How you thought maybe "elimino" was a single letter, only to discover later it was actually "L-M-N-O"? How once you finally got it you sang the song triumphantly it all the time and were immensely proud?
Yeah, neither do I. It's been too long.
I'm about to embark on another adventure a bit more daunting than memorizing 26 characters and sounds: living for 9 weeks in Vietnam and traveling for 2 more through Thailand, Cambodia and Laos.
And that, dear readers, is what this blog will be all about: the ABCs of Southeast Asia.
As a Southern gal hailing from the United States, I've hardly experienced a similar culture to these in Southeast Asia, and I am rarin' to go. Everything will be new for me: the places, the peoples, the languages. AWESOME.

I currently know nothing a posteriori (aside from the riches of Wikipedia's fast facts), but I am prepared to go letter by letter, piecing together experiences to learn what Southeast Asia is all about. With a silly song and lots of practice, the ABCs have thankfully stuck with me and helped me to navigate a lot of words, ideas and places. Maybe by ascribing a letter and possibly a song or two to each incident of traveling, I'll come up with some way of remembering S.E. Asia and sharing it with yall.
So each entry with start with a letter from my familiar English alphabet. Hope each of you enjoys these short "letters" from me (couldn't resist the pun), and know that I wish each of you the best and am praying for you ardently.
